I went to the doctors on Tuesday and thankfully my GP was very supportive. I went armed with a referral form that I had downloaded from the BOSPA website and had filled it in from my perspective. I am so glad I did this as there is no way I would have been able to say all I wanted to say in a 10mins doctor's slot.
I have got to have blood tests done on Friday (checking for high cholesterol/diabetes etc I suppose) and then my GP will do the referral.
Since the weekend I have spent hours researching on the internet trying to get as much information as possible for the different procedures. I have gone from wanting a gastric band to a Gastric Bypass and my current favourite is a Sleeve Gastrectomy!! I think I may be getting a bit ahead of myself here but on the other hand I think it is very important to understand all the different options.
I just cannot stop myself getting excited about the fact that by my 45th birthday (in nearly 4 years time) I may actually be fit enough and confident enough to contemplate having that belated 40th birthday party that I never had!
Then I have to remind myself that the referral letter hasn't even left the surgery yet!

Well here I am then!
Well, here I am then. My first faltering footsteps into the world of Blogging.
"Why?" you may ask.
Well I am glad you asked that - let me explain......
I made a decision last week.
It is one which I have flirted with for the last 10 years but only now do I feel it is the right time for me. I think it is the time to regain my life.
That decision is to (hopefully) have weight loss surgery.
I say hopefully because as yet I have not told my doctor of my decision and I realise that there will be lots of hoops to get through and a long road ahead before that surgery can possibly take place. Unfortunately I am not blessed with pots of money and therefore I need to rely on the good old NHS to come through for me.
This blog is to log my journey and also to share with whoever wants to listen my day to day thoughts about living in a world which is not designed as a “One size fits all”.
More about me very soon.
Welcome to my musings and ramblings.
